If you go into almost any hotel room in America, you'll find a copy of the bible. If you go into any bookstore, you'll find many copies. If you've studied religion, you know these books are destructive lures, set there to ensnare innocent by-passers. Religious texts can be very addictive, and those afflicted have been known to fly into buildings, veto life-saving medical research, wage wars, censor others or deny liberties to their fellow humans.

Don't let the next reader be tricked into believing this is a good book. Do your part to lead would-be Christians to the truth.

The next time you're due to spend time in a hotel room or a book store, print out the page below and place it inside the bibles you come across. Through your action, you can influence Christians to turn their backs on superstition, find truth and make their own moral decisions.

Please encourage others to do likewise. Send them here to denyreligion.com. Spread the word. If your friends don't know you're an atheist, please let them know. Your voice is powerful. You've found an important truth in your life; share it with others.

Hello,

Since you've opened this Bible, you may be a Christian, or may be considering christianity. You've probably been told since early childhood that faith is a good thing, a moral thing, something to be proud of, something to instill in your children. Sadly this is not true.

By definition, faith is the absence of logic and the absense of thinking for yourself. Faith is disbelieving what you see and feel, disbelieving what science has learned and discovered over many many years. Faith is throwing out what you believe is moral. Faith is accepting as absolute truth something you've heard from someone who heard it from someone else who heard it from someone else going back perhaps a hundred generations, backed up by text that's thousands of years old. If someone were here today from 2,000 years ago, you wouldn't trust them to drive a car or operate a calculator. But if you choose religion, you're trusting some men now dead for thousands of years to make the most important decisions in your life.

The book you're holding in your hand was not written by a god; it was written by old men long ago. They held the typical view-points that old men held thousands of years ago. Many things that were considered moral then have long since been rejected as barbaric. For example, this book says that slavery is acceptable. It says that women are property without rights. It says that killing other humans as ritual sacrifice to the gods is a good thing. It says that genocide is appropriate. It says that murdering children is acceptable. There are many other examples of truly horrible deeds that are accepted or condoned in the bible.

If you believe the book you're holding in your hand is a source of morality and holiness, please read the following passages and judge for yourself.

Please go on the Internet to www.denyreligion.com to learn more. Consider denying religion its hold over you. Consider choosing the truth.

Thanks for reading this and thanks for considering this viewpoint

Capital Crimes

Anyone who works on Saturday must be put to death ("Saturday" is not a typo. When the Bible was written, the Sabbath was Saturday (which is why the Jews -- who use the same Bible verses to define their Sabbath -- celebrate the Sabbath on Saturday even today). In the 4th century, Christians changed to Sunday to distance themselves from Jews and to please Constantine, the Sun-worshipping Pagan Roman emperor, as Pagans celebrated Sunday as their day off)

Exodus 31:12-15 - The LORD then gave these further instructions to Moses: "Tell the people of Israel to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you forever. It helps you to remember that I am the LORD, who makes you holy. Yes, keep the Sabbath day, for it is holy. Anyone who desecrates it must die; anyone who works on that day will be cut off from the community. Work six days only, but the seventh day must be a day of total rest. I repeat: Because the LORD considers it a holy day, anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death."

Numbers 15:32-36 - And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation. And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him. And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses.

If a man sins, his children are to be put to death

Isaiah 14:21 - Make ready to slaughter his sons for the guilt of their fathers; Lest they rise and posses the earth, and fill the breadth of the world with tyrants.

If your child disobeys, he must be stoned to death

Deuteronomy 21:18-21 - If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. They shall say to the elders, "This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a drunkard." Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.

A child who curses his mother or father must be put to death

Exodus 21:17 - And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death

Anyone who doesn't listen to a priest is to be put to death

Deuteronomy 17:12 - Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel.

If your brother, son, daughter, wife or friend encourages you to worship a different god, you must kill them

Deuteronomy 13:6-10 - If your brother, your mother's son, or your son or daughter, or the wife you cherish, or your friend who is as your own soul, entice you secretly, saying, "Let us go and serve other gods" (whom neither you nor your fathers have known, of the gods of the peoples who are around you, near you or far from you, from one end of the earth to the other end), you shall not yield to him or listen to him; and your eye shall not pity him, nor shall you spare or conceal him. But you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. So you shall stone him to death because he has sought to seduce you from the LORD your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

SLAVERY

It's ok to beat a slave as long as you don't kill them.

Exodus 21:20-21 - If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property.

If you are a slave, accept it, as that is god's will.

1 Timothy 6:1 - All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God's name and our teaching may not be slandered.

If you are a slave and your master is brutal, you must submit and respect him.

1 Peter 2:18 - Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.

If a man sells his daughter into slavery, she can not go free after 6 years (as a male Hebrew slave could).

Exodus 21:7 - If a man sells his daughter as a female slave, she is not to go free as the male slaves do.

GENOCIDE

If you win a battle against another race, kill all of the other race

Deuteronomy 20:16-18 - But as for the towns of these peoples that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, you must not let anything that breathes remain alive. You shall annihilate them the Hittites and the Amorites, the Canaanites and the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites just as the Lord your God has commanded, so that they may not teach you to do all the abhorrent things that they do for their gods, and you thus sin against the Lord your God.

If you win a battle against another race, kill all of the other race (II)

Joshua 10:38-40 - Then Joshua, with all Israel, turned back to Debir and assaulted it, and he took it with its king and all its towns; they struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed every person in it; he left no one remaining; just as he had done to Hebron, and, as he had done to Libnah and its king, so he did to Debir and its king. So Joshua defeated the whole land, the hill country and the Negeb and the lowland and the slopes, and all their kings; he left no one remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the Lord God of Israel commanded.

WAR

When attacking a city, first ask if they will surrender. If they do, they will be your slaves. If they don't, kill every male, then take all the women, cattle and other property as your own, because this is what god wants for you.

Deuteronomy 20:10-15 - When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it. And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee. And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it: And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword: But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.

Rape

If a man rapes a single woman, he must pay her father and marry her.

Deuteronomy 22:28-29 - If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

If a man rapes a married woman, both of them are to be killed.

Deuteronomy 22:22 - If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.

Women's Rights

Women can not speak in church

1 Corinthians 14:34 - Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

Women who are not virgins on their wedding night are to be stoned to death

Deuteronomy 22:20-21 - But if this charge is true (that she wasn't a virgin on her wedding night), and evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father's house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst.

Women who have sex before marriage are to be burned to death

Leviticus 21:9 - A priest's daughter who loses her honor by committing fornication and thereby dishonors her father also, shall be burned to death.

Human Sacrifice

god tells Abraham to murder his only son. Abraham almost does it, but god changes his mind.

Genesis 22:1-12 - Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, "Abraham!" "Here I am," he replied. Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about." Early the next morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. 4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. He said to his servants, "Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you." Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together, Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, "Father?" "Yes, my son?" Abraham replied. "The fire and wood are here," Isaac said, "but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?" Abraham answered, "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." And the two of them went on together. When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11 But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, "Abraham! Abraham!" "Here I am," he replied. "Do not lay a hand on the boy," he said. "Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son."
